Our artwork captures the Opera House on a warm and sunny summers evening. Hidden silhouettes can be found in the windows.

We have hidden many theatrical, operatic, musical and comedic references throughout.

The Cat and Fiddle Pub sits amongst the dramatic backdrop of the Peak District National Park. At 1,689 feet above sea level, the stone building, built in 1813, was taken  over by Forest Distillery in the past few years and is now Britain’s highest altitude whisky distillery.

The colours are inspired by the heather and beautifully bleak moorland that surrounds the building. The light stripes are from the speeding traffic that zooms past the sleepy location.

The story of Arighi and Bianchi is shown through subtle visual silhouettes and imagery, such as a toboggan, a horse and a map of Lake Como, referencing their journey from Italy to Macclesfield. 

The AB picture shows the story of Arighi Bianchi and weaves historical narratives into the artwork.

Many of you have been asking what all the hidden references in our artwork mean, so we have finally written them down.

On the left on the picture, you will see our depiction of Dave Bowman, the astronaut from 2001 a space odyssey, sat on the bench contemplating the meaning of life.
